Debt collection agency American Profit Recovery began a fund raising attempt in order to assist people trying to bring relief to the Haiti earthquake victims. American Profit Recovery has chosen the Saint Rock Haiti Foundation which is a charity that provides medical care for the people of Haiti.
According to the most current analysis by research agency TNS, consumers assessments and beliefs about the U.S. economy remain, for the most part, dubious. The research revealed that consumer’s opinion about the economy hasn’t changed at all since September.
There are a lot of hopeful signs that are just now emerging that lend to the idea that the labor market might be turning around. Of course, this has huge ramifications for U.S. recovery managers and collection agencies. If debtors are employed and have a working income, they will be more likely to repay their debt, as opposed to now, when debtors are unable to pay back.
Older people are feeling the stress of the recession just as much as younger people. Many are unable to work due to physical and mental fragility, but still live in homes with mortgages. Some may have maxed out credit cards, but with no employment and minimal help from Medicare, social security checks, and retirement funds there seems to be no recourse.
Like every other profession, the collections business has become even more difficult as the economy takes a plummet, and the rate of unemployment continues to rise. With the beginning of more and more unpaid bills, the collections industry could very well be booming. However logic dictates that with unemployment, and a bad economy more and more people in debt will be unable to pay. These days, if a collector is able to recoup anything, they will usually have to accept smaller payments over longer periods of time.
