Cheryl Cole has reportedly felt pressured into announcing her plans to divorce love cheat husband Ashley Cole. Various sources have claimed the singer and x factor judge has felt forced to reveal her intention to begin divorce proceedings ahead of the world cup this month, she had originally wished to wait until the competition was over.

The decision on whether or not to begin divorce proceedings is said to have been troubling Cheryl ever since the second round of her husband’s infidelity reports hit the headlines earlier this year. Cheryl is also thought to have said that although she still has feelings for Ashley she now feels comfortable in a position where she can start afresh on her own.

It has been reported that Cheryl sent text messages to the other Girls Aloud members before the story broke last week stating that she had finally filed for divorce but that she was happy and appreciated their support. It is thought that the reason she texted her band mates was because she felt they deserved to know about the divorce before it became public knowledge.

Cheryl is said to have rescheduled and cancelled many upcoming appearances in order to avoid coming face to face with her husband. She has pulled out of her scheduled performance at the start of the world cup also. The decision to begin divorce proceedings is said to have been tough on her and a relief to finally begin moving on.

It has been reported that Cheryl has enlisted the services of a solicitor already and that it is the same solicitor who represented Mick Jagger during his divorce from Jerry Hall and also represented Ronnie Wood in his recent divorce.

The media reports state that Cheryl has agreed to let Ashley keep the six million pound mansion they shared during their marriage. The full contents of the settlement are still unknown.
